No trespassing allowed
In light of some recent comments posted, I'm putting out the following notice.
Here in Texas we like fences. It is a different concept to my Minnesotan native husband and my neighbor from Wisconsin. I grew up with fences and I like them. Sort of like my blog. This is my piece of the Internet. If you want to have a friendly discussion and exchange of ideas, I welcome it whole-heartedly. But, if you just want to go off on a tangent and wander far away from the topic spewing hate-speech, please go somewhere else to do it. There is a little X in the top right hand corner of the screen. There are a lot of other websites out there that you can visit and be amongst your friends. If you're here and you enjoy the banter and debate, by all means, pull up a chair. But, just be warned. I have a delete key and I'm not afraid to use it. It is MY site and I can decide what the content focuses on - just like I make smokers who visit my home go outside to pollute the air out there rather than the air inside.
Ok. I'm done. I'm putting the soapbox away.

Wow...I'm really suprised at this coming for a journalist. I understand that this is your "piece of the internet" , but I would think you of all people would be against censorship in almost any form. From what I read it was a discussion, both sides were simply stating how the felt about the subject and it didn't seem to me that it was hateful. It's a topic that people obviously have strong feelings about- which is good no matter which side you're for. I think if anything it helps us to develop our opinions and search for reasons why we feel the way we do. With that said I encourage you to use the delete key when necesarry, but don't use it to silence people who's views maybe a little different then yours. Also just to throw in I've never posted here before so I wasn't one of the people whose posts were deleted. Have a good day!

No, no, no. I don't favor censorship. If visitors to the site have points that they would like to bring up, I am all for that. But, if they are going to use the commentary forum to spew hate-speech, which included tasteless comments that didn't have anything to do with making a point that they believe in, then I am going to delete those. If people want to make their stances known and back them up, I'm all for that. I love a good debate. But, I am not going to allow my piece of the Internet to be used for vile commentary. If you care to know about the content of the posts, feel free to email me on the contact form and I'll share some of them with you. I don't see any reason to post that crap here again. I invite dissenting opinions that are coherently presented and aren't just comments like "you suck" or "you're stupid." Make sense now?

One of the problems was they were not on subject. They continually got off the stated subject. If someone wishes to start another topic they can get their own blog, or go to a forum and start one there. No censorship is involved here. You use objectionable speech in my house you will be asked to leave. You refuse to correct your behavior and/or leave you will be forced to leave. My house, my rules. I do not go to someone else's house and try to impose my rules onto them and I expect the same from everyone else.
Also, IMO link whoreing should be deleted.
