My budding cartoonist

Maybe all those art classes have paid off. Son No. 1 had an assignment to bring in something related to Alabama during their studies of the 50 states. He has been talking about and watching coverage of Ivan, so we clipped out a story about it and then I reminded him of our visit to the Battleship Alabama several years ago and let him look at the pictures in the photo album, so he picked out one of him and Army of Dad on the battleship and then he wrote some text about going to Mobile and how the storm is hitting there now. Then, he asked me to show him a map to see what the state was shaped like. So, we got our USA placemat and I showed him where Alabama is. That is when he proceeded to draw the state running from a big wave. I'm so proud of him. I think it is pretty good.
