A moment of silence for a sad memorial
I received this email at work this morning:
Today sadly marks the 20-year anniversary of the crash of Delta Flight 191 at DFW Airport on August 2, 1985. In memory of the 137 persons who lost their lives on that tragic day, DFW will observe a moment of silence at 1:00 p.m. If you wish to participate, please observe a minute of silence today at 1:00 p.m. in your workplace.
I was in high school when this happened and vaguely remember the crash of Delta 191 here at DFW. Made me cry this morning when I saw the 20-year anniversary reports on the news. I was so wrapped up in my own life that I don't remember being that torn up about it at the time. Now, that I'm older, I know better.

I remember seeing it on the news while I was sitting on the couch and nursing youngest baby son. Yeah, that would be 20 years already.
He was in his high chair with mac and cheese in front of him the following January when the Challenger caught fire. Busy year for the country then.
A moment of silence at 1pm. Gotcha.

So how crazy is it that a plane has just crashed in Canada that is also apparently blamed on wind shear? The initial reports are that none of the 200+ people are dead, but it just barely missed landing on the busiest highway in Canada...literally yards away!!!

So weird that there were no fatalities, too. Remind me not to fly on Aug. 2.
