One of the guys
I have always been "one of the guys" for as long as I can remember. I was a tomboy growing up, so I was the only girl allowed to play ball (whatever kind from basketball to football and baseball) with the boys at recess. I never got dates from the boys at school - unless they were new and hadn't grown up with me - because all the boys knew I could beat the crap out of them if they got fresh with me.
*sigh*
It has translated to my adult life, too.
Walking down the hall at work. Three 20ish to 30ish attractive young guys talking in the hallway. I walk by and one of them slugs me on the arm and says "how ya' doin today?"
Just dandy, dude.

I think I recovered at the Office Depot in Grapevine. At lunch today, I stopped by to finish school supply shopping and the 20-something manager who had helped me find special batteries for, hm, er, my toy ... said, Miss, I can help you over here. And, I told him he was a wonderful individual for not calling me maam. He replied "Why would I call a beautiful young woman maam? That is reserved for old ladies." I told him that I was liking him more by the minute and I think I flustered him because he didn't charge me for everything and then tried to give me my check back after he ran it through his machine.
Yeah, I still got it.
