Special K challenge
I'm thinking of doing this. Army of Dad looked at me like I was nuts. But, think about it - lose a jeans size in two weeks on the Special K challenge. Replace two meals a day with a helping of cereal ... hmm. AoD went and looked at the cereal we have in the pantry to show me that a helping is usually like 3/4 of a cup or one cup of cereal.
He knows me and my LOVE for cereal. That was why I was thinking it might be do-able. But, I like LOTS of cereal. As is evidenced by my ass.
But, combined with the Three A Day milk campaign, it might work. I gotta do something. The milk site even has a toolbox of resources to use. And, they have this funny pic. I need to find someone who can superimpose my face on this lady and cut out the backgrond stuff. That will be my new avatar. Instead of get three, can be Got 3.
AoD - any rewards you might offer if I try and succeed?

My biggest problem with that is that I love Special K. If it's in the house, I will eat the entire box within a day.

Cereal is a gift from God. I could eat it every meal... and have before. I hope this works. :-)

Nope, this does not get my vote. What you need, and you won't like this, is some "green" things, like asparagus and broccoli, green beans and celery. Change your diet and you will be amazed at what happens to your cereal ass. Snack on carrot sticks and tiny tomatoes! I love cereal at bedtime and the best is applejacks. However, I also love my greens! Fad diets often work temporarily and you tend to gain more back than what you lost in the first place!

Green stuff? What's that? We can't eat money. ;) I know, I know. I've tried the green stuff. It makes me gag.

Hey, Cereal Lovers! MN (shameless plug ahead) has a fun attraction inside the Mall of America called "Cereal World." Sponsored by, you guessed it, General Mills. You enter through a fake corn field and follow the cereal making process all the way to the real live snack bar, selling what else: General Mills cereal bars and all the sugary treats associated with glomming marshmallows and cereal products together. They have a three-story play structure with slides like Happy Meal Land on steriods; the cutest thing of all is the toddler playground: you climb a small stairway and slide down a gray plastic spoon into a red bowl filled with plastic Cheerios the size of bagels. I have the cutest picture of my Kate whizzing down (ok, it's only about four feet long) when she was three. I'm waiting for the corporate powers to open the next MN Homegrown Blue Chip attraction. How about "Stickyville," an amusement center dedicated to the wonders of 3M products? Run and jump to attach yourself to the Super Sticky Post-It Wall! Wear an honest to goodness Duct Tape Suit! Catch the world's largest Scotch Tape Ball, bare-handed. I could go on. I'll spare ya.

Oh, I would love the cereal world. We're supposed to go to Minnesota next summer for a AoD family reunion. I think I know one of my side trips!!!

So, it's been a year. Have any of your lost any weight? I'm guessing not because the bloggs just completely stopped.

Funny, this stopped about the time it started. I'm so bad with cereal - it is hard for me to eat just one bowl. So, I scrapped it.
I didn't really start working at any kind of workout or weight loss regimen until earlier this year. I've started cutting back on the late-night snacking of junk. Trying to eliminate the stuff around the house that just begs for me to eat it.
I've lost about eight pounds in the past two-to-three months. So, I figure that is a good start. If I can lose slowly and make gradual changes, I'm hoping I can keep the weight off instead of doing the fad diets. We'll see.

Well, I tried it. I ate one bowl for breakfast and lunch 5 days a week for about 2 weeks. I lost 2 pounds. It's not bad for not having to change much in your diet.

I tried this about a year ago and it worked. You have to stick to it for 2 weeks. That is the plan. Not one. And you CAN'T starve (listen to this, MeghannMarco.com) As long as you eat fruits and veggies throughout the day then there is no excuse for fainting from malnourishment. That is also part of the plan. You can eat as many fruits and veggies all day long. You can drink whatever you want. I didn't do the snackbar thing, and I also substituted Special K with other healthier cereals, including cheaper, generic brands. I lost exactly 6 pounds in 14 days. I am currently on the diet again, not so much to lose weight, but to get my eating habits back into shape and not be as irratic as I have been with food lately. It is great for that. It is great because it teaches you to plan ahead what you are going to eat for the day. If I know I have dinner with a friend the following evening, I just eat cereal and fruit for breakfast and lunch. I'm planning my meals! I love it. Also, as for the 2/3 skim milk...I usually go a little over. Since you can drink whatever you want, I think it is okay to do that.
