Brrr, humbug

Us Texans are idiots when it comes to freezing weather. I can't say we aren't because we are.

The road freezes and we all freak out. Of course, I'm bundled up like it is 10 below. It is only 27. I decided to run to Wal-Mart this morning to pick up my pics for the Christmas cards and get that out of the way and the freezing rain started and stuck to my car. My garage is going to be nice and full of water as it melts off my minivan. Ick.

But, already the accidents have started and the freezing rain only started about 90 minutes ago. On a happy note, I can see white stuff sticking to the ground in my back yard. I don't care that it isn't snow. We only get snow about twice a year here, so anything white on the ground is cool (pun intended.)

Of course, I have to worry about getting my kids and AoD getting home.

Wow, just looked out the window by my desk and there are some GIANT snowflakes coming down now! I ran outside to take a picture and heard some of the neighbor's kids down the street, apparently she kept them home because of the the weather. I could also smell someone's fireplace hard at work.

Here is our front roof. You can see the white freezing rain on there. You can also see my poor plants covered by a measly sheet and a reflective visor from AoD's old car.

Amongst all the leaves that need to be raked and my dead irises, there is some ice. AoD warned me to make the boys rake so the snowman is easier to make. *shrug* And my trampoline is a good show of the ice, too.

But, tonight will be good. I bought stew meat, so we're going to eat some yummy stew and cornbread, Southern Style (tomato based broth). And, I have stuff for chili for tomorrow. I love the cold weather as long as I'm not out in it.

Oh, down to 25 now.

Brrr humbug.

ahhhhh stew!!!! I went to the store last night for stew meat- I am stuck at work for the time being....but I did manage to get it slow cooking before I left this morning and gave hubby STRICT instructions- DO NOT ADD ANYTHING TO IT.

For some reason he feels he has to "jazz it up". He can't leave anything alone. Always having to add, change and tweak everything. Damn Yankees, gotta love em'

    Rant away Cashin.

and, KR, how was your stew? Mine was so-so. Got a late start on it. Army of Dad liked it, but I thought the potatoes should have been softer.

Stew was yummy, I also had some sweet cornbread WOO HOO~

BUT.....I got home from work early...checked the stew meat and it had a few little funny flakes floating around in it. I glared at the hubby and asked what he did to it...and of course he said nothing. Am I blind? Flakes of stuff just don't appear on their own. I scooped up some meat and was almost knocked over by the taste of basil( not so bad) and ROSEMARY. I hate rosemary. ROSEMARY! GAG!

I was so mad...told him he couldn't follow instructions for shit. I divided the meat/juice and made two pots...told him to make his own.

My pot turned out yummy, as long as I didnt eat the meat that tasted like rosemary.
