Only in Texas
I get a call from the school today and I had to take a deep breath when I see the school's phone number pop up on the caller ID.
Oh crap. What did he do or what was injured? Those were my first thoughts.
*letting out deep breath*
Nothing, just the PTA update that tamale orders are to be picked up after school on Monday. Yes, you read it right. Our holiday fundraiser at school is selling homemade tamales. I prefer the beef over pork.

Christmas tamales are one of the great traditions of Texas!
Now you've made me miss the lady out west who made such wonderful tamales every Christmas ... *sigh*

Working on the meme ... love tamales. One of my favorite yankee husband stories: first time a little Mexican lady came by his office at Fort Hood and the soldiers asked him if he wanted some tamales, he thought they meant the little cinnamon candies. :) Welcome to Texas, kiddo. Now, he loves tamales.
