Rip my heart out
I took Hot Rod to the doctor today because he has been battling this lingering cough since Thanksgiving. The doctor checks his ears, nose and throat and no redness. So, he goes to check his chest and asks the child to take a deep breath. As soon as he did it, there came the crackling cough. Big tears welled up in my eyes as the doctor gave me some medical terminology, then said the child has walking pneumonia. He told me not to feel badly because had I brought the child in after coughing for two weeks, he would have dismissed it as a cold.
So, now we start antibiotics. He said it will take four or five days for the cough to subside. Poor baby.

Don't worry about it. He'd have gotten better on his own, eventually. Couple days on antibiotics and he'll be a hell of a lot better. A little extra vitamin C never hurts.

I figured he would get better eventually, but with soccer about to start again AND he wants to try t-ball AND continue karate ... he is going to be pushing his 6-year-old limits and I wanted him to be healthy. I just felt like a slimeball mom for him to get "that" sick.
