SPF: Friday the 13th
Ok, my assignment should I choose to accept it for this week's Stuff Portrait Friday:
1. Something you're afraid of
2. Your Lucky Charm
3. Something Friday the 13th ish
Ok, one of my biggest fears is for one of these little fuckers to bite one of my children. There is no anti-venom and usually by the time you find the bite it is too late to save some children. Brown Recluse for those of you who don't know. This one was in our cooler, shown here.
My lucky charm? Easy enough. I have four:

I just heard about the Brown Recluse a few months ago.
That is ONE SCARY SPIDER!!!

((spraying bug spray like a lunatic)) Ick... spiders freak me out. I know about the Recluses from living in Tennessee before - they were everywhere... "little fuckers" is an understatement by far. Ick. ((more spray))

Gadfly, my hubby and I were checking out storage places while our house was being built. We went to one place, rented a unit and then when we got there to put stuff in storage....I saw it....I HUGE black widow! Now, talk about "fucker" !! Spiders freak me out anyway, but this was bad. The spider was soooo black and shiny that it looked like a fake plastic spider!! I couldn't believe it.I had horrible visions of hundreds of baby widows crawling through my stuff. I went to the storage office....got a refund and took my belongs back home. I decided to go with the storage place that brings you the container- you pack and lock and they pick it up and store it inside in a climate AND bug controlled building. Whew....I was able to sleep better.
EWWWW memories. Still freaks me out

Our exterminator comes quarterly, but the problem with killing brown recluse spiders is that their little skinny legs are like needle-tips on their feet (do they have feet?) so they can't walk through the poison and soak it up like other bugs. SO, we have to really work at killing their food supplies, but they like dark cluttered spaces, so I'm working on getting rid of my packrat mentality. But, we do spray and spray often.

I'm with Kami. The curls! Oooh.. I'm a sucker for the curls. So cute! Funny zombie pic. And I, too, am now terrified of the brown recluse. If you need me, I'll be googling them to see if they live in PA.

The worst spiders we get are the wolf, and they're rare to uncommon at best. Oh you might laugh at the guys up here freezing to death, oh but who's laughing now?!
