Just bring it on people.
I'm throwing down.
BEST.SCI.FI.SHOW.EVER. -- Deep Space Nine.
No competition. Good character development - Sisko as the reluctant emissary; the development of Major Kira as a person and a woman and not just a warrior fighting for her planet. Great conflict between Odo and Quark. Wonderful storylines with each character spotlighted from time to time. War with lots of players in the game. And, *purring* Klingons.
The show never got old. It never got boring and I fell in love with the characters. Spike TV just started the series over and I'm getting to watch it all over again. I'm giddy.
Bring it on.

I love X-Files and I like Stargate:Atlantis, but neither one holds a candle.
X-Files maybe ... the first five seasons.
Stargate is too cheesey for my taste. Cute boys and all, but no copmarison.

I've been watching it since it started over too, but Star Trek:
TNG will always be my "first love." (Or actually my second since I used to watch re-runs of the original with my Dad.) Maybe my first "real" love. Yeah...that's it.
It had Worf first-I know it's not much, but I had to have something to toss out there about its superiority. Wasn't that the point?

I would agree that X Files could be up there amongst the great ones, but the crap they turned out at the end tarnished the X Files for me.

DS9 is the best of the Trek franchise, though. And I'm not saying that just 'cause Maj. Kira and Jadzia Dax are absolutely smokin' hot!
