Go Mean Green! Beat Memphis!

We're ready to cheer today. We have many favorite players, but one of the quiet leaders known as "the Glue" of the team was featured on the national news on Monday. From a Marine to a Guard is the CBS Evening News story about UNT's veteran player, Rich Young. (and I mean veteran in two ways there, how clever am I?)

The Mean Green play today at 11:30 a.m. local time and I plan to be wearing my new Mean Green shirt and cheering them on. I have the UNT Mean Green shirts out for all the kids to wear, too. I just wish we would have had a way to get to New Orleans. *sigh* Maybe one day.

Cheer 'em on for us. While I'm not an alumni of UNT, we feel a special kindred feeling for the university since I worked there for a year, Army of Dad graduated from the UNT Police Academy and it is our hometown college. It is great to find someone to get behind and support.

Go Mean Green!

Don't hate me cuz I picked Memphis! I picked (wisely!) Texas, and Tex A&M in the first round (but screwed up with Louisville today!) I have TX into the Elite Eight.
It was tough rooting against Notre Dame, but ya can't always go with the sentimental favorite when you're in an office pool. I know so little about basketball, I went with Tony Kornheiser's picks (WaPo) with one adjustment: Winthrop. I bet he's a Marylander. He didn't pick any of the VA teams. :-(

D'oh. Well, I got my just desserts pickin' Memphis. And dammit, Texas lost, too. :-( I'm 50/50 going into the Sweet Sixteen.

OK, I'm gonna look like the "six degrees" that I am! I mistakenly thought that Memphis lost. Yesterday I commented to the guy who is head of our office pool, "Well, I have 36 points." He said, "No, you have 38."
So, we go through the results for each game. (Guess I wasn't paying as much attn. as I thought.)

Well, anyway, I'm second to last out of 11 folks in our pool, so I don't think it will matter one way or t'other. :-/
