It's always something
For more than a week now I've been miserable. Not just uncomfortable. Not just a little sick, but completely miserable.
So, I'm thinking that I hate to waste my co-pay and see the doctor to tell me to take some Tums, so I call one of our soccer dads who happens to be a nurse to ask him what he thinks.
I give him my list of symptoms:
*nausea
*gas
*bloating
*awful cramps
*pain that worsens within a half-hour of eating
*bouts of chest pain that feels like a heart attack
Oh, he tells me, it sounds like your gallbladder. I think you have gallstones. You need to see your doctor. So, I go the Mayo Clinic site and look up gallstones. It sounds like a checklist for me. So, off to the doctor I'll go on Tuesday. Everything I keep looking at points to some sort of surgery. Yippee.

I hate to tell you this, babe, but you likely have acid relux, like me. Same symptoms and all. Try taking an over-the-counter acid reducer in the morning and at night, or just before you eat.

The good news is, they don't have to split you from stem to stern any more to remove a gall bladder. You can have lap and be in and out. And you'll feel better after it's all over!

Are you back on the diet sodas and off the cranberry juice?
I'm with Lab Kat, it's acid reflux.

Yeah, I looked at the acid reflux symptoms at the Nexium site http://www.purplepill.com/why_you_hurt/your_symptoms.aspx and that's not it. The biggest problems are the constant cramping and feeling like I'm going to throw up. I thought it was a tummy virus that just wasn't going away and then the heartburn kicked in, too. So, I don't know. I'm pretty sure it isn't the acid reflux. And, I'm drinking a little of everything these days. Decaf tea has been the main thing.

I have a doctor's appt in about an hour and a half. Not my regular doctor, though, darn it. He is out this week. So, cross your fingers. I just don't want to spend a lot of money on testing. Ack.

Ok, back from doctor. For now, he is giving me Prevacid to help me feel better. Did alot of tests and he ordered a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis, too, to see if there is anything to be wary of. Will keep you posted.

I had to have my gallbladder out about 10 years ago and let me tell you...you will know if it's your gallbladder. I felt like someone had shot me in the abdomen and it went all the way through my right side. It's horrible pain. I threw up often with the pain.
I hope it's just acid reflux for your sake.

Just got back from my follow-up appointment and the gallbladder is coming out. Just gotta call the surgeon and schedule it. Diagnosis was: multiple densely calcified gallstones.
sometimes I hate being right.
