Some Kind of Wonderful

Listening to the 70s station on my new Verizon FIOS cable *did I mention I love it?* and it is Grand Funk Railroad and it made me smile.

One of the best parts of college life was living in an apartment complex that was almost solely Baylor students. So, there would be apartments filled with boys all around us. We met the guys who lived just catty-corner from us and I made great friends with a boy from Fredericksburg named Brett Oestreich. He and I would wile away the hours talking, going out and playing Trivial Pursuit. I had a Rock n Roll supplement card deck and we were trying to play it at like 2 a.m. one morning and we realized that if there was a question about 70s rock, the answer was almost always going to be Grand Funk Railroad.

He and I had some PE class together and the teacher would put on music and it didn't matter what she played, he and I would look at each other across the gym and scream "Grand Funk Railroad!" If anyone asked what band was on the radio, we would always tell them Grand Funk Railroad. It was really funny. I guess you had to be there, huh? I lost track of Brett. It would be fun to talk to him again and see if he remembers the Grand Funk Railroad joke, too.

LOL. Nope, no drinking for a while now. Just listening to the tunes from those summer days spent at Mr. Delaney's pool. Remember them? Listening to the radio over the loudspeaker. Those were the days.
