Sometimes I hate being right
A few weeks ago, I started having some super painful symptoms that led me to believe I had gallstones. I went to the doctor and he poo-poo'ed me a bit and said he didn't think that was gallstones, but ordered a battery of tests to check. Turns out after a chest x-ray, EKG, CBC and abdominal CT with and without contrast that I have gallstones. Go figure. And, apparently, since my heart is in tip-top condition, the chest pains are most likely anxiety attacks. Oh joy. I need to call Kristine at Random and Odd, so we can compare notes.
But, I digress. He said I'm in no hurry to get this done, but he doesn't recommend putting it off forever as the pain will come back and it could get infected and/or get worse. But, the procedure to fix things is pretty simple. A quick laparoscopic surgery should do the trick and have me back on my feet within a few days. Badabing, badaboom. So, I am going to meet with my surgeon on Monday for a consult and to get the dirt on what is involved and talk about recovery, so we can plan it around me pitching for Hot Rod's coach pitch team and around me coaching a team-full of 4-year-old girls at soccer (that starts April 30!)
I called my husband and his first concern was if I'd miss any baseball games. Ok, it was his second concern, but it was right there at the top. But, he has some ahole moments coming to him this week since he brought me flowers on Monday for no other reason than he loves me. *go ahead and say it: Awwwwww!*
Anyway. I have a surgeon I've used before for a breast biopsy and a port catheter in my chest. I like this guy. He's cute, he's very nice and he is very funny *go read the port catheter link for his sense of humor* So, I'm going to see him Monday and we'll figure out where we're going for there. I'll make sure and take the calendar to work around Hot Rod's birthday and first communion, Pickle's karate tournament and belt test and Little Bit's soccer. Hot Rod may be adding soccer to the list soon, too.
And, then a little bit of humor as I was looking up the surgeon's phone number. In my business card notebook, I find it funny that these are cards on the front page (there are two rows of cards on each page):
Business associate - Pickle's pediatric endocrinologist
My plastic surgeon - Little Bit's pediatrician
My surgeon - My OB/GYN
One of my best friends in Odessa - One of AoD's best friends in Maryland
Another business associate - the principal at Hot Rod's school
I think this is sort of telling about who I feel I may need to call the most!

My sister recently had her gallbladder out. Came through it with flying colors and was discharged so quickly she nearly missed her "Get Well" bouquet. You have my prayers on this.

Well, at least now you know and that's 3/4 of the battle. Call me as soon as you know when you're having the surgery.
